The Research + Design practice provides architectural design services for residential, commercial and cultural projects from the southwest of the UK to London and abroad. Their belief is that architecture is primal – for the spirit and inextricably tied to the landscape and nature that surrounds it. Biophilic design is a sustainable type of design that integrates nature with architecture to increase our connection with the natural world.

Research + Design received the Alan King Award in 2009 for technical excellence and Plymouths Abercrombie Award in 2011 for ‘Best Minor Development’ for our Barbican Biophilic Extension.

Current projects include: an urban community garden space, a medical research, facility incorporating plants, a children’s theatre in a park, a garden room in London, a large extension to a listed house and a residential development of 6 homes in Devon.

Research + Design also provide materials research studies, most recently for compressed earth blocks.
