Established in 1984 in the Scottish Highlands, Norscot specialises in supplying high-quality timber frame kit homes, primarily for the self builder.
The company's in-house design team offers flexibility by customising any of its standard designs or creating bespoke designs to meet individual client preferences. The kit homes are eco-friendly, featuring highly insulated, low-carbon timber frames that comply with stringent fuel conservation and environmental sustainability standards.
Each home is independently certified by a structural engineer, ensuring exceptional strength suitable for various locations, including remote mainland and island sites. To enhance customer convenience, the company provides services such as handling statutory consents and offering optional kit erection, aiming to minimise client stress throughout the building process.
For complete peace of mind, Norscot also manufacture the windows and doors to complement each kit home, ensuring a seamless fit and the highest quality throughout.
The company's commitment to excellence has solidified its reputation as a trusted designer and manufacturer of energy-efficient, customisable timber frame homes.
Norscot family homes
Whether you have a grand design in mind or are looking to redevelop a cherished family home like clients Mark and Ann, Norscot will support you every step of the way on your timber frame kit home journey.
In 2022, Mark and Ann embarked on a project to transform Ann’s ancestral home on the Isle of Scalpay, Harris. Initially considering a renovation, they decided on a new build after determining that the existing structure’s layout was unsuitable.
Mark and Ann selected Norscot based on the company's exceptional assistance and superior product quality. A key factor in their decision was a recommendation from a previous client who had successfully built on the nearby Isle of Lewis. They were particularly impressed with the high-quality finishing materials, which helped bring their vision to life. They also made use of the company's build cost calculator to effectively plan their budget.
Their favourite space is the living room, featuring a cosy woodburner and breathtaking views, making it the perfect spot for relaxation.
Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, they describe their experience with Norscot as “amazing”, noting that the team went “above and beyond” to assist even after completion.
