Complete Stair Systems has been supplying custom-made staircases to those renovating or building a new property, for over 20 years. Our staircases are designed with an emphasis on the passage of light and are thus manufactured in a mixture of glass, steel and timber.

A modern staircase can be a significant feature in an entrance hall. Historically, grand staircases have been important elements in buildings worldwide. Previously limited to large public buildings or stately homes, there is now an increasing demand for feature staircases in private residences due to homebuilding and improvement trends in the UK. Complete Stair Systems is here to help.

Our showroom in Romsey, Hampshire, hosts many of our designs in full flight form, giving our visitors a true impression of the statement a custom stair can make.

We supply across the UK directly to end users as well as to builders and specialist property developers.

Modern staircases: Introducing the Model 500 staircase and WF floating staircase

The traditional use of inexpensive softwood stairs, closed risers and heavy carpeting in the UK is giving way to more contemporary options. Homeowners now prefer staircases that complement the architectural style of their properties. Modern staircases instead frequently incorporate open, transparent designs to enhance light flow. This is where we can help.

We have two models which are custom-made for your home, designed to enhance the passage of natural light: Model 500 and WF Floating Timber Staircase.

The Model 500 staircase features steel stringers and timber treads in a modern, open design intended as a central element in a room or hallway. This custom-made staircase can be built to the required height. Many choose frameless glass panels to enhance its transparency.

The steel stringers are supplied either flat or with a zig-zag effect on the top or both the top and bottom for a stylish appearance. Due to the strength of steel, the stringers are only 10mm thick, providing more usable tread space compared to conventional stairs.

The treads are available in various hardwoods, with oak, beech and walnut being the most popular choices. Treads are either treated with a matt-lacquer finish or oiled, based on your preference.

The balustrade typically consists of glass panels secured between stainless newels or bolted directly to the stringer. The steelwork usually has a powder-coated finish in a RAL colour, or brushed stainless steel.

This product is custom-made, with each project carefully drawn before manufacture. Each staircase's height, shape, going and width is unique, emphasising modern and light styles with open risers and minimalist materials.

The WF floating staircase is a cantilevered timber stair constructed for a light and open design. It features a one wall stringer, allowing the treads to appear as if they are floating, maximising light passage.

Made from solid hardwood for strength, the most popular choices are beech, oak and ash.

It includes a specially designed handrail acting as the support on the floating side. The spindles are screwed into the handrail, creating a floating effect for the treads.

This floating staircase is custom-made with each model's height, timber, going and shape being unique. Full drawings are prepared for each project before production.
