The Stiltz Home Lift has changed the lives of people across the world. It has enabled them to stay in their own homes for longer and enjoy an enriched quality of life.

The Story of Stiltz Lifts

The Stiltz Lifts business journey began with owner Peter Gillespie moving to Shanghai, China in 2010 with his son James and setting up a manufacturing facility. Peter’s extensive engineering background and James’ fluent Chinese made for a great operational team in the Far East.

The very same year, Cameron, Peter’s other son relocated to the UK and along with Lachlan Faulkner set up the Stiltz global sales headquarters in Wokingham, Berkshire.  Cameron became the company Director of Operations (UK) and Lachlan its Director of Business Development (UK). The UK market responded favourably to Stiltz domestic lifts and the very first lift was sold within weeks of the UK office being set up.

The Stiltz Duo Classic Home Lift is a freestanding lift that plugs into domestic electric socket and is an ideal alternative to a stairlift. The name ‘Stiltz’ came about due to the home lift’s unique dual rail system which resembles a pair of ‘stilts’.

In 2012, three new products were launched into the UK market. The Stiltz Duo Vista, with a clear body made from structural polycarbonate to give it a contemporary look and the Duo Thru-Car, with a larger footprint, to allow users to enter and exit from both sides of the car.

Later that year, the Stiltz Trio Lift made its debut. It was a larger lift created to carry more weight and accommodate a standard-sized wheelchair. Also available in Classic, Vista and Thru-Car, the Trio was an immediate success with wheelchair users and people with walking frames.

In 2013, Mike Lord became chairman and brought with him years of experience and insight into the marketplace. Mark Blomfield also joined the business and set up and established Stiltz USA in Pennsylvania following a clear demand for Stiltz domestic lifts in the USA. The same year the business moved its operational heart to a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kunshan, Suzhou in Eastern China.

Significant growth in the UK and Europe saw Stiltz outgrow their expanded facility again in 2014 and they moved to a bigger HQ within Wokingham at Anglo Trade Park.

In 2015, Stiltz opened a new sales office in Leeds and moved its HQ to Kingswinford, West Midlands. The company subsequently built its own training facility for its Stiltz Home Lift Training Academy which includes a classroom with a home lift demonstration unit inside and fully operational mezzanine floor in the warehouse. The academy provides trade dealers with the theory and practice to install Stiltz lifts and become accredited installers.

Stiltz Lifts launched new premium home lift brand, Lifton in September, 2016 with more products planned to be released.

In 2016, Stiltz was presented with the prestigious title of Team of the Year 2016 for exceptional customer service at the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) Awards.

In 2017, Stiltz Lifts was ranked as one of Britain’s fastest growing SME exporters and listed as seventh in the third annual Sunday Times Lloyds SME Export Track 100.

Stiltz domestic lifts are now sold in close to 20 different countries with authorised partners in Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Singapore, Ireland, Russia, Singapore and Australia.
