We recently viewed a chalet bungalow with potential to turn it into a great detached family house with no increase in footprint. Naturally planning permission would need to be sought, but it would take too long to do this before putting an offer in.

We are considering offering purely on the strength of a pre-planning meeting with the planning officer. That in itself will most likely take three weeks.

There has been plenty of development in the neighbourhood, including extensions, new builds and rebuilds. If we didn’t get permission, we would be stuck with a less than perfect family property. Is taking this sort of risk a no-no, or do plenty of people do it?
