I have had triple-glazed units fitted in my new build and I am now in a dispute with builder, as the glass is too heavy for the frames. Now the windows are not airtight, and even though we have downgraded to double-glazed glass, the frames are distorted.

Who can I go to for advice? We have written to the builder, who then has to go to the supplier and then the manufacturer. We have given him two weeks to respond with a plan of action, as the units supplied and fitted are not fit for purpose.

This all started in July 2014. He seems to want me to get a technical evaluation. I think it’s a procrastination technique, as the naked eye can see the problems.

Any advice gratefully received, as this is the second winter the windows are whistling!
