Tiny yet mighty, this 6" air circulator is my new summer must-have for on-the-go cooling

I had my doubts about the MeacoFan Sefte 6" Air Circulator, but despite its compact size, the powerful airflow surprised me

Homebuilding Verdict

Don’t let the size of this compact fan fool you – it packs impressive power, with 12 speed settings and up to 26 hours of battery life. Its portable design makes it a practical choice for use at home or on the go, and I couldn’t believe the airflow reached as far as 16 metres.

I’ll admit it, I initially had my doubts about the MeacoFan Sefte 6" Portable Air Circulator. After all, how much power could a six-inch fan really deliver? However, it’s safe to say that after testing it for over a week, I’ve completely changed my mind.

I’ve recently been using the MeacoFan Sefte Pro 10" Air Circulator, which I’m absolutely obsessed with, so this smaller version had a lot to live up to if it was going to replace my current setup.

MeacoFan Sefte 6" Portable Air Circulator: first impressions and set-up

The fan arrived in a cardboard box and was well-protected with paper pulp as well as a reusable storage bag, which will come in handy over the winter when it is not in use.

The device came with everything I needed to get started: a charging cable, an instruction manual, a battery for the fan, and the remote. I put the battery in, placed it on charge, and within a few hours it was good to go. I barely needed to read the instructions as it was all pretty self-explanatory.

As someone who constantly loses chargers, I would have preferred a USB-C port. However, I am impressed that the battery is replaceable, making it more eco-friendly and longer-lasting than other cheaper models I’ve seen.

I was pleasantly surprised at how lightweight the fan was, weighing just 1.7 kg with a built-in handle for easy transportation. I can even carry it with just two fingers. As for the design, its simple black and white colours blend in nicely with my bedroom.

How the MeacoFan Sefte 6 Portable Air Circulator performed

The good

Like I mentioned, I was skeptical that this tiny fan would be able to deliver any impressive results, but to my surprise, its powerful cooling reaches 16 metres – that’s roughly the size of a lorry for scale! It also offers up to 70° vertical and horizontal oscillation to ensure the whole room is cooled evenly.

There are 12 different speeds to choose from, which can be controlled either manually on the device or via the remote control – which, by the way, magnetically attaches to the fan so you never lose it (genius!) It also glows in the dark, which I found very cool.

The fan has three different modes: Eco, Normal, and Night. The latter is a game-changer for light sleepers, turning off the LED display to ensure your sleep remains undisturbed.

Measuring just 32.4 x 21.0 x 18.0 cm, I’ll be packing this fan for summer UK staycations when I’m unsure whether the hotel will have air conditioning or adequate cooling. Plus, my car’s air conditioning is currently broken, so I can easily put this on the passenger seat if a heatwave strikes.

The bad

One thing I was a little disappointed in was the noise. Meaco says the levels are as low as 22 decibels, which, for reference, is slightly louder than a whisper. However, from about speed level three onwards, the noise can become a little distracting and sounds like it's rattling. The rattling noise increases when it's set to horizontal oscillation – even when I placed it on various surfaces.

Perhaps my expectations for noise were just too high, given that it’s a smaller device...

Final thoughts

All in all, I was really impressed with this latest offering from Meaco. It might not be the cheapest mini fan out there, but even the fact that the battery is replaceable shows me that it’s going to last a long time, rather than something you chuck out after a few years when it breaks.

If the MeacoFan Sefte Pro 10" Table Air Circulator is out of your price range, having tested both, I can confirm that there isn’t a huge difference between the two. Obviously, the 10" has more power and a greater range, but you can get away with this smaller version if you need to and save a bit of money.

It’s lightweight, simple to use, and does a fantastic job of cooling me down – whether I’m working at my desk, trying to sleep, or baking in the kitchen. I love the fact that I can carry it around from room to room without it being a faff, and the long-lasting battery life and short charging time are a great bonus.
