The back of our cottage is 0.3m wider then the front meaning that there is a slight step in the side wall.
We are looking to build a single storey side extension, infront of the stepped part of the wall under permitted development rights.

Guidence I have seen on L shaped buildings show any side of the building parallel to the principle elevation as also being called the principle elevation however the L bit of our building is only around 30cm wide. There is also currently a porch (which we would demolish) that extends further out then this. The width of the new extension would be no wider then the existing porch (to keep within 50% of the exting width of the house)

Would this constitute permitted development?
