Detached from the main house, the owners of this converted garage gained permission to extend the building under permitted development, having first worked with an architect to gain planning permission for a change of use for turning the garage into a residential building.
The old brick garage originally consisted of a main storage space and a separate office. This layout has been completely reconfigured. The partition walls which originally separated the main body of the garage from the office space were demolished in order to form two new bedrooms, an office, shower room and bathroom.
The new extension that has been added to the original building is now a spacious open plan kitchen, living and dining area, lit from above by an enormous aluminium roof lantern, whilst a large swathe of bi-fold doors lead out to the terrace.
Externally, the old garage doors have been blocked up, and a new front door added.
