If like us, it feels to you like the green shoots of spring are finally starting to flourish, we suggest you get your running shoes at the ready – but not for the reasons you might think.

While you may well be limbering up for some exercise, it's also time to get ready to race to your nearest Lidl store. The brand has launched a 12 week long gardening event, with middle aisle deals arriving in store every Thursday.

The first week kicks off with everything you'll need to start tidying up your garden after winter. I round up the weekly homes and gardens deals for our newsletter, and predict these 5 items will sell out fast. So, if a new garden landscaping idea is on your agenda, make sure you don't miss out on these middle aisle bargains.

1. Banish dirt and debris with this Parkside Pressure Washer

With a full range of handy gardening products on offer at Lidl from Thursday 5 March, from tools to scarify your lawn, through to decking oil and brushes to apply it, you'll be hard-pushed not to find something you need for gardening this spring.

Justifying adding a pressure washer to your garden shed kit is pretty easy. With a range of uses from cleaning patios to washing cars, once you've tried one you'll understand their appeal.

It's why it's likely this Parkside Pressure Washer from Lidl won't be in stores for long. At just £99.99, it comes with everything you need to get started on your patio makeover, and is £65 cheaper than this Draper Pressure Washer equivalent at Toolstation.

But, before you forge ahead with your cleaning, make sure you follow what our gardening experts recommend for cleaning decking with a pressure washer. Or, if you're planning on using your pressure washer to clean your outside windows, it could be worth picking up this Parkside Facade and Glass Cleaner Attachment while it's in store.

Although on a personal note, if I had a self build with lots of architectural glazing, I'd be snapping up a model like this Robot Window Cleaner from Amazon to do the dirty work for me.

2. Get your lawn looking as fresh as a daisy

March is the perfect time to start prepping your lawn for spring, and one of the best times to scarify your lawn – autumn being the other key season when it's recommended.

The Parkside Scarifier/Aerator from Lidl will be on offer for £89.99, and even cheaper at £79.99 if you have the Lidl app. With easily interchangeable rollers, it's cheaper, and more powerful than this VonHaus Lawn Scarifier/Aerator/Rake Electric from Amazon.

It's classed as suitable for lawns up to 600m2, and while autumn is considered the prime time when looking at when to aerate a lawn, if you missed the September window spring is considered the next best time.

3. Keep your trees and hedges at bay

Next up our shopping list is the Parkside Extendable Tree Pruner with Saw. Overgrown trees and hedges are one of the areas that can turn into potential neighbour disputes. While there isn't a legal height for hedges between neighbours. there are guidelines in place for unruly and untrimmed boundaries. Avoiding them is therefore key, which is why pruning tools with extra length that avoid the need for ladders can be handy.

This VonHaus Telescopic Tree Pruner & Lopper only extends slightly further and is currently £27.99 on Amazon compared to Lidl's £14.99 offer.

4. Keep your health and borders in check with this weed puller

If the thought of gardening makes your knees creak, then this next middle aisle deal seems like a no-brainer for your body – and your budget. The Parkside Weed Puller will be available for just £5.99.

While it's perfect for lawns or flowerbeds, if you're looking for a tool to remove weeds from patios, you could try this Vonhaus Weed Remover from Amazon instead, as it's suitable for use on hard surfaces including patios, wood and driveways.

5. Go easy on your knees with this padded kneeling mat

And last, but certainly not least and one item you'll be glad of throughout the seasons is the Parkside Kneeling Pad. Available in black or green, and with an integrated carrying handle, it will help protect your knees when tidying up your garden planters, or lawn edging ideas.

At an extremely affordable £3.99, this Livivo Extra Thick Kneeling Pad on Amazon has similar dimensions, but is priced at £9.99.
