Our neighbours already have extended their bungalow which is in effect now two stories and shades our garden. They are proposing to raise the roof which would make it the height of 3 stories at the back, affecting our light and privacy. Both of our bungalows are built on ground which slopes away at the back. They have ground floor cellars which accounts for the difference in height between the front and back. Can we object to this?

Yes, you can object. Neighbour’s comments are part of the consultation process attached to any planning application. However, there is no guarantee that your objection will actually result in the project being stopped.
