Bathroom mirrors with lights can be a stylish and practical addition to every bathroom design. Combining at least two functions into one item - mirror and lighting - many of the models available also offer extras such as cupboard space, shaver sockets, de-misting, speakers and can even be integrated with smart lighting systems.

Offering style but also saving space with their dual functionality, there's very few bathroom retailers who don't offer them as an option.

So where can you buy bathroom mirrors with lights and how do you decide which one to choose?

Choosing bathroom mirrors with lights

“It’s important to choose bathroom mirrors with lighting that will both meet your needs and offer functionality and visual interest," says Jeevan Seth, CEO at JTP.

"A mirror with lights is perfect for those early morning routines, particularly in the winter when it’s dark outside. They are also a great choice for small bathroom ideas, as the light will bounce around the room, helping to give the illusion of more space. A larger style of mirror can also help with this.”

“Ensure the lighting is bright enough for tasks such as shaving, skincare and applying makeup," adds Jeevan. "LED bulbs are generally the superior choice - they last for longer, use significantly less energy, and are more environmentally friendly. They are also available in a wide range of brightness levels, making them ideal for various situations.

"Whilst halogen bulbs are less popular overall," adds Jeevan, "they do excel in applications where instant brightness, high colour accuracy and focussed lighting is a priority.”

And while a bathroom mirror with lighting is a great addition to your bathroom, it shouldn't be the only lighting option in your bathroom lighting ideas.

“Whilst a mirror with bright lights is better suited to the early mornings, by the evening you will most likely want to relax in the bath or enjoy a long shower, and for this accent lighting is more favourable," says Jeevan. "Consider installing dimmer switches and spotlights, which will give you the option to either flood the space with light or set the mood for a spa-like experience at home. Pendant style lighting will add further visual interest to the space."
