Want to design your dream home? Baufritz can help you to create a unique home with nature in mind
Taking standard building blocks, Baufritz deliver bespoke, environmentally friendly, energy efficient, sustainable living to your dream home
Are you looking to build the home of your dreams? Do you want to create a unique, innovative timber frame house that matches your desires and designs? Do you want an ecological and healthy home? Yes? Then you need to take a closer look at Baufritz.
Their mission is to build houses which do not harm nature but preserve it. They provide off-the-shelf turnkey home solutions that meet the highest ecological and energy-efficiency standards, as well as demands for truly bespoke design.
In 2023 they built their 100th home in the UK and no two are alike. You can choose from chalets to barn-style houses, contemporary designs and classic and Georgian-style villas, thanks to their unique modular build system for sustainable living.
Interested? Baufritz advocates and customers, Martin and Alison Long, perfectly sum up what they bring to the table. “We’ve built houses before but the meticulous detail and care that they put into it, and the craftsmanship, I don’t think we’ve seen anywhere else.”
Why work with Baufritz?
“As soon as we knew about Baufritz, and as soon as we found out about their ethos, it married perfectly with the project that we were planning,” shares Alison Long, owner of House Long – a contemporary home that embraces the Baufritz desire to help those who want to build a luxury dwelling with an abundance of natural materials.
Built using Baufritz’s bespoke walls, windows from third-party suppliers and its patented wood shavings insulation to minimise its carbon footprint, the house is surrounded by woodlands with dense shrubbery and tall oak trees.
The stunning architecture of House Long comprises three volumes stacked one upon the other, each with a different façade. Vertical timber panels contrast with grey mineral render and shafts of sunlight enter the rooms through floor-to-ceiling windows and glass roof panes in the stairwell.
The design the Longs took to Baufritz wasn't an easy or straightforward option. “I think Baufritz would say that the design that we brought to them was challenging, but they rose to the challenge,” shares Martin.
They were perfectly replicated and implemented thanks to the Baufritz modular system as Oliver Rehm, CEO at Baufritz (UK) reveals: ”We successfully adapted the distinctive design by architects McLean Quinlan to our Baufritz modular system, using natural materials that contrast and interact with the leafy surroundings. Many of the elements were custom-built by our craftspeople, such as the vertical timber slats on the upper floor."
How does Baufritz bring your vision to life?
It all kicks off with an individual consultation to discuss your ideas for your new bespoke home. Here you will get honest, reliable and professional advice based around your budget and site constraints.
There’s two design options. You can tell Baufritz what you want and their in-house architects will draw a design and submit the planning application for you. A quick, easy and painless option. Alternatively, like Alison and Martin Long, you can bring your designs to Braufritz and they will make your dream home happen.
Next it's time to get serious as Baufritz draws up a build contract based on your future house design and cost calculations. For peace of mind this will include a fixed price for services and a realistic timescale for your project. All you need to do is sign.
Now the fun begins. Baufritz works out the calculations for the groundworks, the structural analysis and installing the building services inside your new home before you can get involved and bring out your inner interior designer.
Head to the Baufritz design centre to compare the different materials and feel their unique quality and choose fittings, floors, windows, cladding and much more. But, don’t panic if you can’t make up your mind, experienced interior designers are on hand to give you expert advice.
Finally, the dream begins. Baufritz’s partners will prepare the ground for your prefabricated home. Whilst their joiners and carpenters will pre-build your new home’s larger elements, ready for delivery to your site. A specialist team will assemble and install your carefully selected fittings to complete the build.
