Following on from the successful leak test of our roof, we can move on and start to prepare the flat roof for the installation of our rooftop garden.
We’ve fixed numerous metal trims onto the roof that will act as separators for the gravel borders and the soil areas that make up the garden design. In preparation, we have laid a thin plastic sheet to act as a protective layer that sits on the roofs surface.
Then we added a non-woven fleece to further protect the roof, followed by layer of double drain – which is designed to alleviate hydrostatic pressure, helping any water that lands on the roof to drain away freely and thus preventing damage to the roof structure.
Our next step is to add the soil, which is when we’ll really see the garden coming together.
