We are planning a single-storey side & rear extension to our 1930s semi, which we own but is leasehold. We may a nominal ground rent and the lease is 999 years, with over 900 years to run.
The lease suggests that we need permission from the freeholder to extend the house, which is fair enough, but I wonder if there is any advice on how this sort of thing plays out? Are permissions usually granted? Are they costly? I understand that it might be difficult to predict with each landlord, but any experiences / advice would be interesting to hear.
