We built a detached cottage annex in our garden around 10 years ago with a view of accommodating our elderly parents. Both our parents are now deceased, our children have all left home and we now live in the annex cottage and use the main house as a holiday let. We would like to split the title and sell the original house but wonder if we’re liable to Capital Gains Tax. Anyone able to shed some light on our situation?

You need to talk to an accountant as this is a specialised area and a mistake can cost you a lot in tax.
