Inspiration and advice for your building project
The population continues to grow and with water supplies already hard-pressed to meet demand we need to look at alternative options. Nu-Heat's rainwater harvesting system is a simple, cost-effective solution enabling access to a water supply that complements the mains water service and helps to reduce ecological impact of a home.
The premise is simple: rainwater is collected, filtered, stored and then used for non-potable purposes including toilets, washing machines, garden hoses, for cleaning cars and other applications. It is not suitable for baths, showers or washing dishes.
Far from having the dirty appearance one might expect, water from the sky normally only becomes spoiled when it meets the ground, so water collected through rainwater harvesting is actually clear and clean-looking.
Is my house suitable?
The majority of houses throughout the UK are suitable for rainwater harvesting. The criteria is based on factors such as the amount of available roof from which to collect rainwater, the average rainfall in your area, the number of occupants and what you want to use the water for.
Nu-Heat supplies three packages with varying capacities:
Nu-Heat's automatic quote process will determine which package is most suitable for your property and requirements and recommend the size of storage tank needed.
Nu-Heat supplies a complete renewables package ensuring seamless system integration.
With many years of experience in the integration of underfloor heating with heat pumps and solar panels, and an increasing demand for even more energy-efficient systems, we are pleased to be able to design and supply a complete package with one source of responsibility and one point of contact.
The Nu-Heat range of warm water underfloor heating, ground source, air source, and exhaust air heat pumps as well as solar thermal collectors, all integrate seamlessly to provide a heating and hot water system tailored to the individual needs of each customer.
Because Nu-Heat supplies all of these technologies you can be sure they will integrate seamlessly, as they also provide all of the fittings necessary to complete the installation.
Each system is supplied with both plumbing and electrical 'docking drawings' that clearly illustrate how the various components should be fitted and then linked to each other. There are many possible configurations that may include underfloor heating, a heat pump, solar, a storage and/or preheat cylinder and one of several control options. Nu-Heat will also provide a docking drawing illustrating how a conventional gas or oil boiler is configured.
Should you decide to buy some of the components from another supplier, that is not a problem - Nu-Heat has many years of experience in integrating their systems with a wide range of makes and models, so you can be confident that their system will fulfil all expectations.
Nu-Heat Introduces Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater is collected from the roof via the downpipes, filtered, stored and then used for non-potable purposes including toilets, washing machines, garden hoses, for cleaning cars and other applications. It is not suitable for baths, showers or washing dishes.
Nu-Heat supplies below-ground tanks, which have the advantage of being unaffected by temperature extremes such as summer heat or freezing conditions. The tanks have a flat, two cylinder design that requires less excavation than other products and offers greater flexibility.
Rainwater harvesting plays its part in helping to achieve required levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes. When level 5 comes into force, rainwater harvesting will be a prerequisite.
