Inspiration and advice for your building project
While it is important how your house looks from the outside, the interiors are equally important. Hebridean Contemporary Homes have designed interiors which are light, modern and surprisingly spacious.
Space
Most modern homes have the same ceiling height throughout the house. Hebridean Contemporary Homes designs provide changes in volumes by opening the living room to the apex of the roof. Combined with the open-plan design, this adds drama to the interiors and gives an unexpected feeling of space.
Inside-outside
Large windows mean that dramatic views can be exploited, but more than this is achieved with our designs. The floor to ceiling sliding doors means that the boundary between the inside and outside of the houses becomes blurred, bringing the landscape in to the house. And by painting window frames a neutral colour you will help focus the eye on the exterior landscapes.
Materials
Using the natural colours of materials can bring a warmth and contemporary feel to your home. For example, a solid oak can be used in the floor and the kitchen worktop; a slate lobby can be echoed in the hearth. Choose from a limited palette of materials to tie in with the beautiful simplicity of the designs.
Fittings
Again, simplicity can be the key when choosing kitchens and bathrooms. While many people have their own favourite styles of kitchen, we would recommend a careful choice of worktop and tap so that they become a feature in the house.
Modern homes for rural living conceived by Dualchas Building Design
Hebridean Contemporary Homes is different from other self build kit-house companies. Conceived by award-winning architects Dualchas Building Design, the houses combine the best of rural tradition, modern living and the latest super-insulated construction technology to set a new standard in kit homes.
Inspired by traditional rural architecture, Hebridean Contemporary Homes have carefully considered scale, form and materials in the designs. And with extensive glazing and clever internal planning, Hebridean provide contemporary designs for a rural setting.
By using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), an advanced construction technology developed in Germany, and Super Low-Emittance (Low-E) glazing, Hebridean achieve insulation values which place our houses at the cutting edge of green technology. This is the next generation construction system. Hebridean also offer timber frame versions of the houses.
Whether you prefer a closed-off kitchen or open plan living; attic storage or an extra bedroom, Hebridean Contemporary Homes designs give you choice and adaptability to suit your lifestyle.
