Kevin had already carried out one major project for Elaine and Patrick Mulvihil, but as their family grew they needed more space. Federation of Master Builders
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is the largest trade association in the UK building industry, representing nearly 10,500 building companies.
Established in 1941, the FMB is independent and non-profit-making. It is a source of knowledge, professional advice and support for its members, providing a range of modern and relevant business building services to not only save them time and money, but also to help them promote and manage their businesses more efficiently.
The FMB also offers consumers practical advice on how to choose and work with a builder and get the most from their home improvement project through inspirational case studies and “The essential guide to home improvement”.
On the FMB website you can submit information on your proposed building project and the FMB will match you with local builders to give you a quote. You can also download a plain English contract to use with your builder (whether they are FMB members or not).
If you are using an FMB member and, in the unlikely event, something goes wrong with your project the FMB also offers a dispute resolution service. If you want an even greater level of protection for your investment you can also take out a warranty on your project through the FMB’s National Register of Warranted Builders.
