I have been told by my local planning authority that I need to install acoustic fence panels along the new driveway to my building plot. I am looking for companies in South East England, Essex or London who supply acoustic wooden fencing.

I have already made a number of enquiries and it is quite expensive. I obviously want to keep my costs down so does anyone know the cheapest company to use or anyone selling 2nd hand acoustic fencing panels?

Unfortunatly if you have to have an Acoustic Barrier installed for planning there is no cheap fix.

The cost of an Acoustic Barrier will always be more expensive than that of a normal domestic barrier due to the thickness of the fence to gain the mass needed and the way it has to be constructed.

The most important thing to consider when purchasing an Acoustic Barrier is the mass density of the fence, and that the design is completely airtight ie no gaps and is closed to the ground. If you go for cheap I would imagine you will end up with something that has a low mass density and not a great sound reduction. We have come across many people who have installed a cheap acoustic barrier which doesnt have a great sound reduction when asked by the local authority to install one. The local Authority have then come back to check, have said its not giving a good enough sound reduction and told them to replace. Its always better to go for a quality fence the first time round rather than leave yourself open for problems. If you go for one with a long life guarantee then you are also saving yourself time and money replacing it.

Jacksons Fencing are based in the South East and their barrier is laboratory certified and has a 25 year maintainence free guarantee. It wont be a cheap barrier but has all the certificates to prove its ability and lifetime.
