BBC offering chance to have your dream home fully funded...

I bought a house 3 years ago with my daughter, in need of almost complete renovations. Unfortunately I have been unable to carry out the renovations. We love our house and have got planning permission to do the work, but no finance available.

We would love the opportunity to fulfill our dream home, It has the potential to be the most beautiful place we have ever lived in, but have no idea when this will happen. We are avid viewers of all the property programmes and enjoy them totally. It would certainly be a dream come true for us to be chosen for this opportunity.

Therefore I would like to be considered for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

To start with my dream home would be something at least a hundred years old that has been gutted and brought back to brick on the inside and totally refurbished using modern materials that are eco friendly and recycled.
When finished the house would need to be incredibly energy efficient with solar panels, wind farm technology and rain catchers to collect water for the toilet and other uses. I really dislike any kind of waste and believe we could all have a more carbon efficient life style.
In this theme I would use moss on the roof top to insulate the house and to help wildlife. I would also create a manageable garden with year round flowers, for buzz stops for bee’s (I great interest of mine), and have nesting boxes and a small pond in the grounds. I would also have fruit and nut trees. Basically a house that put’s something back to nature instead of taking it away. Oh, the garden would be south facing with a balcony, overlooking the garden. And the property would have a good size garage.
It would be fantastic if we were considered for the program. My wife and I are newlyweds and have so many plans for the future. We have a wedding blessing in August and plan to start a family soon after. What a great start winning are dream home would be for our new family life.

My wife and I had some financial problems 2 years ago. In addition my job was depressing me so much we were fighting and at our lowest ebb since marrying in 2004. We came back from a holiday and dreamed of a life away from all this, In France. My wifes parents offered to find a dream home (or homes as they would be on the same plot). We began our search in the Cruese region and my in laws found a plot with 2 adjoining houses. 2 Old farm houses in the Aubusson area just outside Felletin. The idea was for my wife to move with the children and I would follow. However, after a few months it was not working financially or workwise for me. Eventually my wife had to leave France and return home. However, we cannot forget the rural life we had set in our minds and indeed my wife lived for a short while.

We have our dream designs in renovating a country cottage to live out our dreams but we realise they are in Kent! Not France.

I have found a plot.. But need the help to bring the dream to reality.

What happens to those people who have put in all the work and dreams, but are not the winners - how will they be rewarded. It appears the "property guru" will be the owner of all the homes and only one will be given away. Presumably this will be funded by selling off all the remaining homes at market value.
This could leave folk with years of hard work and dreaming without anything to show for it at the end.

Hello

I watch all the building and design programs and have always had it in my heart to design and build my own home some day. I started out being trained as a cabinet maker, designing furniture, these days I design other joinery products, like door, windows and staircases. Nevertheless, I feel that my dream of designing a home is financially out of my reach.

Having worked within the builder trade for a number of years has given me a good understanding of design aspects.

There is and area of land with an old farm house on which has been stood derelict for some years. The house is nestled in a dip and would be ideal for an earth shelter. I would love to build a house which would be totally of the grid, and experiment with ideas which are very sustainable.

I have sent a request for an application form three times now but still heard nothing back - has the deadline passed for this? My first request was over a week ago?

Due to the high volume of enquiries we are recieving, there may be a delay in getting back to you with an application form. We will email everyone who applies with an application form as soon as we can.

The closing date for this stage of the competition is the 30th of September 2010.

If you enter a property, or plot, that is sold before the closing date then your application will still be considered. If you are selected for the next stage of the application process, and your property or plot has sold, someone from the team will contact you to see if you would like to consider a different property or plot.

We will consider applicants who already homeowners, but those applicants would have to enter a property, or plot, that they do not already own in order to be considered. For example: if you already own a semi detached house, but long to build a new home in the country, then you can still enter the competition and would detail your dreams for a countryside new build in the application form. What we cannot consider is applications referring to properties or plots that applicants already own.
