hello,
We are having to take our water suppy from a loch about 1km away from site. Has anyone else had to do this? What sort of pump have you used, pipes etc and did you get help with installation? we are struggling to find anyone ready to come out to our remote location so will prob have to do ourselves
thanks
Hi, you mnetion that you are in a remote area? is that in Scotland? anyway, there is a company called John Davidson pipes, who have branches from Inverness to Cornwall, and who specialise in this area, might be worht giving them a call.
You didn't mention the elevation difference between your house and the Loch.
This is important as the pump force needed to go uphill requires strong, perhaps expensive pipes.
Have you thought of a large tank and a trailer, with perhaps a weekly trip. this would be the solution in most remote areas in Africa which have this situation.
Good luck Mike
.
I would be interested in any suggestions for a water supply to a remote house which does not appear to have any existing supply at all. Anyone know how much water storage tank and weekly delivery in scotland is likely to cost? Does such a service in UK exist? There is a large pond nearby (approx 500 - 1000 metres away)but unsure how clean water is. What about feasibility and cost of a well? There is a very small stream running by the property. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
