I am considering using Lindab steel guttering on my new bungalow. Has anyone used this product, and if so was it ok to fit and would they recommend it?
I recommend it highly, the first time I used it I ordered plenty of spare connectors, stopped ends, gutter brackets etc. because I was used to plastic, where you break as many as you use. When it arrived and I felt how substantial it was, I realised that I needn't have and not a single one broke.
I find it easier to fit than plastic because the connections are made by compression hinged joints (hard to describe but very simple to use) rather than brute force and the down pipe supports are tightened with wedges, which sounds primitive but works well and looks superb.
On a bungalow the standard profile should be fine, but on a house, if you want to make a feature of the gutter, I'd recommend using a larger section than necessary because it's not actually as visible as you'd imagine.
I've only used the plain galvanized stuff so i can't comment on the coloured finishes, but based on the quality in general I'm sure they will be fine.
