For my new build 160sqm house (in N.Germany), my first need is good room air, so I want an air circulation system with heat exchanger. I am thinking about a heat pump kind of heating system (probably to run underfloor heating).
If the air system delivers warmed/cooled air would that be enough heating without underfloor too ?
I can only believe that ground heat pumps are better than air pumps, because the ground is warmer when you need heating more, in the winter. Surely the source of the heat isn't important, something needs to heat the air being circulated around the house.

Can anyone suggest an elegent single solution that would supply all needs ? Or do these heat pumps always need a backup anyway ?

Hello Neil.

I sugest you look at High Velocity Mini Duct Systems, Basically insulted ductwork run throughout the property and connected to either Ground/Air source heat Pumps or a conventional boiler.

The systems provide heating/Air conditioning (Dependant upon what is supplying the heat, through discrete outlets) with 30% less moisture than std Air con. These systems have been used in Premature Baby units due to the purity of air that can be provided. Our partner company has installed these systems in Europe and may be able to help with the install/commissioning if required.

If the system is installed throughout the property then you would be able to achieve less than 2 Degre Temp difference throughout the property. Other benefits include no hot/cold spots, no drafting etc.

I have spent time in Germany, so am willing to help if needed.

Ok, sounds interesting...
Would that supply all the room heating required ? Or would you still need underfloor/radiators ?
How is it different to a 'conventional' ventilation system (or is it one) ?
Can you give me a rough idea of the cost of such a system ?

Thanks again,
Neil

Hello Neil.

The unit can be supplied via conventional boilers or heat pumps (air, ground, exhaust etc) There would be no need for radiators or UFH as the heating is supplied via insulated mini ducts.

The ventillation system is tied into the heating system and the removed air is taken through filters (cleaned) and re circulated. Additionally fresh air can also be introduced throught the filters.

Costs is totally dependant upon size of system/how it is supplied. If you have a set of plans you could email, from there we can give you a cost.
