I have recently carried out a selfbuid 2 storey extension to my house. I have used a friend to install the electrics, he is fully qualified but he is not part p registered. I have informed building regs and they have been and inspected the first fix. We arranged for a company to come in and sign it off but they have unfortunately ceased trading, not been back in touch yet with building regs. Can anybody advise pleasewhat i need to do?

Hello Darren.

Building control usually employ approved electricians to inspect (first fix and sign off second fix). However the Electrics should be covered in the completion certificate issued by Building Control. If not any approved Electrical contractor an sign off the work.

Ian

We have this property which is a wooden shed with not much room for parking and is one of the reasons that is stopping us from doing anything with the property.Thought there would be something we could do to renovate this shed with 3 bedrooms and large kitchen,it is 50 miles away from us and is putting distance from a local golf coarse.Possibly we could let this out and to golfers.Any ideas what we could do?

I have recently built a 4 bed property with planning consent, mortgage free and owing no monies on it.

Do I have to get it signed off by the council,
I do not intend to sell it as the land was given to us by our parents and they live at the end of the garden. After our death it will be handed down to my son.
