I remember reading that chosing the primary heat source is one of the most challenging options for a renovation / self buiild project.
I am looking to replace the old Gas fired DHW and Central heating via rads with a new More efficent and easy to maintain system.
I do not have the land for a Ground Siurce Heat Pump so I am looking into other types of systems.
What ever system I go for will be part of a whole house solution.
Hopefully this new system will be linked to a new UFH systems (Dependent upon floor insulation / height) and also join a HRVS system, (with option of cooling, for those one or two days of summer we have.)
The Bungalow presently has Double Gazed windows with K glass, The Bungalow insulation will be improved with Cavity wall insulation, Increased loft insulation above 270mm and also Insulating render.
So, what heating system would you reacommend...?
Has any body used, or come across a Air Water Heat Pump called Altherma from Dakin.. the spec looks good, but it is expensive...?
I am surprised this Magazine has not yet covered this type of system.
Any others... recommendations, suggestions..?
Typical cost of installation, running cost, maintenance etc etc?
All feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks.!
