Design Ideas for Sloping Sites
A look at the design implications of building your own home on a sloping site
Poor Mrs Snell. She came home from pottery yesterday evening to be told that we're moving (the 30th) in 3 weeks time. We've been in this new self built bungalow since August and the speed of this turnaround is a record for even us.
It's been on the cards so it can't have come as that much of a shock, as the next one is half built already. It's just that she thought she's have a little more time. Actually she must be getting used to the unexpected. When we moved here, she was expecting that we'd be moving on the weekend but on the Wednesday, the chaps who were moving us from the other side of the village told me in the morning that they wanted to do it there and then as that would mean that they wouldn't have to carry the furniture across newly laid flagstones. Mrs Snell was in the bath talking to her sister in Riyahd when all these chaps came into the house and started carrying things out.
I've counted up. This home is only our 10th self build/renovation so the next one will be the 11th. That's one less than I thought but it does mean that the one after this new one will be No.12. And as Mrs Snell is adamant that that one will be the last, it'll be good not to finish on 13.
