Design Ideas for Sloping Sites
A look at the design implications of building your own home on a sloping site
To all of you who entered this year's Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards, we thank you for your entries. With entries totalling in the three figures, sifting through them has been very difficult and choosing a shortlist of 15 has been quite a trial.
We do intend to contact all entrants in the coming few weeks but everyone on the shortlist has now heard from us. If you didn't make it, please be assured that every one of your projects inspired us and go to collectively prove that if you want a well-designed, efficient, value for money home, then self-build or renovation is the only way to go.
This is the first of a series of posts and tweets over the next week or so as the judges hit the road, starting early tomorrow morning and hitting the south west before visiting all four corners of the UK. We'll be posting videos of the homes along with our early verdicts and opinions at our special dedicated awards site www.selfbuildawards.co.uk
Jason Orme has been the Editor of Homebuilding & Renovating for many years and has written on property and self-build matters for, amongst others, The Independent and The Telegraph. He self-built in 2004 and is looking for another plot.
