New Forest House
The replacement dwelling is set within an 18.5 acre plot, located adjacent to ancient woodland and heath, within the New Forest National Park. The massing, form and orientation of the new building has been carefully conceived in order that the proposals minimise the impact on the site and its surroundings. The main dwelling and annexe building both have low rise green roofs. The buildings are orientated to maximise solar gain and utilise ground source heat pump technology and a log boiler for heating and hot water requirements. Excavated material from the new basement and pool area has been re-used in the earth berming to provide a visual screen to the north and help to reduce the sound impact of the nearby dual carriageway. The proposals also incorporate rain water harvesting, grey water recycling and a natural swimming pond to further increase biodiversity within the site. The materials used throughout are sustainable, durable and in harmony with the site and its surroundings.

I've just voted for you
Hooray, I've just voted for you...very surprised nobody has commented so far - hopefully your article in the Home Buidling Renovation mag will do justice, EcoTech magazine article in May 2010 shows off your house very well...do you guys have a website of progress pictures etc..how is the Eco pool doing - what temperatures did you manage to get up to. Your heat pump was it connected to the pond or did you use air source, and if so why ?
Thanks for youre vote! We
Thanks for youre vote! We have a great set of cosntrcution photos which we should consider putting on our web site, the pool is amazing and the client has used this all summer, amazing dragon flies buzz around the pool all over summer. The heat pump is not connected to the pool, the sun is the heat source for the pool!
Voting for New Forest House
Well I'm putting my neck on the block, having just read issue 23 of EcoTech - a sustainable arcitecture magazine - where there is an excellent article of the New Forest house with an eco swimming pond. I guess we are all going to see alot more of these finalists in the coming magazines, but for now - the most beautiful of the entries first place to New Forest House, second place Underkeepers cottage, third place Moonstone - The Oak House good but wasn't teh Readers Choice 2009 another Green Oak winner - lets have something FRESH !!

Using an earlier comment by one of the lady voters, The New Forest house is beautifully illustrated in Issue 23 May 2010 of the “Eco Tech – sustainable architecture today” magazine pages 16 to 21, designed by PAD architects see http://www.padstudio.co.uk/Page.aspx?Nav=Projects.Completed.Residential....
But once again as Moonstone, there has been no attempt to use this beautiful building as a show house. Interesting that this property and the one above, have very large thermal solars, with principal heating being supplied by thermal solar, and a ground source heat pump as a backup. More links please who built it ? Rest of links are , you guessed it, cottages to rent in the New Forest.
PS> Can you get the magzine ECOTECH to publish a pdf of this project - great article - magazine though is £9 - and only 29 pages long - Jason Orme is probably right - architects cahrge large sums of money and try and blagg the rest of us that they are worth it
Glad that you like the new
Glad that you like the new Forest House and we will attempt to put the pdf article onto our website but if you would like a copy then please contact us. I find the comments about architects rather amusing on here as we are seen as Egotistical Millionaires, when in reality we give our lives to these projects. If we revealed how much time we gave to these projects and the fees we actaully earn, you would soon see that actually we earn a living the same as any skilled sub contractor on any of these projects. To deliver a contemporary Eco house today takes a great deal of skill and responsibility!
Beautiful
A house combining gorgeous modern design and impeccable eco credentials with absolute sympathy for its environment (of course, that should go without saying with true design but rarely does!). Beautiful, well done!
