Conversion of former grist mill, Cornwall
Shortlisted for Reader's Choice Award: Conversions & Renovations
David and Carol took on the conversion of a completed dilapidated grist mill in a pretty village in South Cornwall and have turned it into a character-packed home. The couple managed to retain the charm of the existing building – there is just one new window opening and the original granite walls have simply been cleaned up and re-mortared. The transformation inside, however, is complete – with the creation of a farmhouse kitchen, great living spaces and luxury bedrooms that all make the most of the great views from the site. The project cost £350,000 (£1,933/m²) and took a year to complete.
