This home look huge, definately a bit too big for me, but I love the idea of a cinema room, it would keep the kids quiet for hours.

Question

Nic Breuer's photo

Where is the ambition in building a new house to look like a period property but with plastic windows?

#4

The windows are in fact

Anonymous's photo

The windows are in fact traditional timber painted sliding sash windows if you look at the images closely!

How nice to see a period house built to suit todays eco-building standards. Thousands love this style of house which is why people stream into national trust properties all over the country year after year and admire the grandure of homes now to expensive to maintain let alone build. To recreate a similar style home albeit on a smaller scale you cannot help but to stand and look at it enviously and aspire to be able to do the same and live in a house like this.

lacking in style

Really sorry but this house looks a little naff- like something out of footballers wives! The outside looks a bit plastic and not a home I woudl aspire to build or live in - just not my cup of tea!

Loving the work, I am truly inspired to see eco tecnology being integrated in such a discrete way allowing the creation of a grand georgian house.

I think it looks ab fab. I'd love to use the pool every day and my husband and kids would love the cinema room. I'd also love to see the faces of friends driving up for the first time! Why not combine the best of the past with the best of present and consideration of the future? Brilliant!

Bankhall house is a example of the very best self build home, it is very comfortable, very homely, just like the homeowners. The technology and enviromental systems have been implemented in a very professional way so that they blend in.

The build quaility is very high, given that the build took on a number of new proceses, the overall outcome is sucessful and a credit to the homeowners.

I had the pleasure of working alongside the homeowners and I can confirm this is one of the best self build home that works as a family home in all ways.

If I was not living abroad I would consider having one built for myself, I love that cinema.

If you are going to do classical you need to get the proportions and detailing right. Beta double minus for this I'm afraid.
